ER 308L 0.045 x 36″ AWS A5.9 308L

  • Low Carbon Content – Reduces risk of carbide precipitation during welding and improves resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding
  • Corrosion Resistance – Excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion in normal and mildly corrosive environments
  • Good Weldability – Easy arc stability, smooth bead appearance, low spatter and good slag removal
  • Mechanical Properties – Good strength and toughness, maintains ductility after welding, and performs well at both room and moderately high temperatures
  • Versatile – Used for welding similar austenitic stainless steels and for dissimilar welding in some cases
  • Heat Resistant – Good oxidation resistance up to moderate elevated temperatures

Description

Inweld 308L is similar to Inweld 308 but contains an average of 0.025% carbon producing a weld deposit with
great resistance against inter-granular corrosion caused by carbide precipitation. This is probably the most
popular grade among the stainless steel alloys. It is used for general purpose applications where corrosion
conditions are moderate. Inweld 308L should not be used for a mild steel to stain less joining applications. Used
more commonly for welding AISI types 304L, 308L, 321, and 347.
