ER 317L 1/16 x 36″ AWS A5.9 317L

  • Low Carbon Content – Reduces intergranular carbide precipitation during welding and minimizes risk of intergranular corrosion (sensitization)
  • High Corrosion Resistance
  • Good Mechanical Properties – Good ductility and performs well under moderate temperature conditions
  • Excellent Weldability – Smooth wire feeding and stable arc characteristics, produces spatter-free welds, and can achieve radiographic-quality weld deposits
  • Resistant to Chemical Attack
  • Austenitic Structure – Non-magnetic in annealed condition (may become slightly magnetic after welding)
  • Versatile

Description

The classification is the same as ER317, except for the carbon content. Low carbon (0.03% maximum) in this
filler metal reduces the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation. This increases the resistance to intergranular
corrosion without the use of stabilizers such as niobium or titanium. This low-carbon alloy, however
may not be as strong at elevated temperature as the niobium-stabilized alloys or Type 317
